Bit of the Captain in me….

I’m really enjoying the buzz of a nice couple of drinks. Not nearly able to pour them to the level of perfection that Julie can pour them, but maybe it’s her company. Nevertheless, this is just a babble. More under the cut. Don’t go there unless you want a glimpse of me, btw.

    Cotehardie Class!

Tonight was a fun, jazzed up night. The ladies that came were so hard working and gave back to Jenny and I the attention to details and the following of instruction that we needed to get the first set of basic patterns started. We were teaming up and people were working together to complete the various tasks of fitting these things properly.

Of the seven people who wanted to do this, four got the torso part of the pattern done tonight. We will catch the other three asap AND we've got someone that could not show up. Plus sleeves. Plus construction details. Lots of work but it was a good evening.

I enjoyed myself. It was noisy and busy and people were polite and careful of each other's personal spaces while we were manipulating fabric and needles around flesh. Great group of ladies. I swear I am still flying a bit - but I really am just totally exhausted so am going to bed. Night!

    Bits of me

Hi! I'm spending this afternoon at an MLA meeting, then coming home to get up and go again on Wednesday to Library Legislative Day. Busy days out of office. Just a few thoughts while I'm drinking coffee.

    Watching the Oscars...

so not writing Fighter School's recap. Starting a new page, though. I LOVE the pages options to this application.

    Campbell 66 Express

My step-father, Bruce Crim, is developing a Campbell 66 Express website. For information about how to contribute, go here.  Thanks!  The website will eventually be here but for now is just a placeholder. Good luck and have fun with this, Bruce!

    Huge Roadside Arrows!!

I'm finally remembering to look into these huge arrows that look as if they are fired from a gigantic bow and let to fall to earth, abandoned. I saw another one on the trip to Green Bay and again swore to myself to look them up. This one, up in Motley, is what I'm talking about. You've probably seen them but I'm not sure you'd notice them.

    Fighter School Trip Home

It's 7:44 and we are starting to get awake and moving around. Fantastic day yesterday - I learned stuff and practiced and talked and just had a really good time. Couple favorite memories include Fulke's auth, Tekla's auth, looking across a class and seeing Liz whaling away on her drill partner and just delivering perfect blows, having Roisin help me teach Fulke how to do the move properly and then sorta waving her hand at me at one point and saying 'you got that one. Do wraps.'  Giving Hrodir a hug with my underarmor already on and having him be horribly disappointed; then him making Markus hug me. Being on my knees in a melee (hipped) and having to wait to be the last one alive....then not so much. Hitting black and red tape.

More later but I need more coffee.

    Thing 5: Motivate poster

I have just had a blast with these toys.  Motivators are always my favorite though so that's what I choose to do.

Image hosted @ bighugelabs.com  It's small but click it to go to the larger picture.

http://www.webmonkey.com/06/08/index4a.html  has a ton of fun toys. I love the one where you draw a picture and then flick'r sends you back thumbnails of photos sorta matching your colors/shapes. Very odd results but entertaining.

Gone for the weekend. Everyone have fun!

    Heading off to Green Bay!

I am going to Fighter School here at 1 pm, and am greatly looking forward to it. I intend to learn. Fight. Push myself. Have a great time, too.

Lizard and Aletheia are going with me and we will talk, talk. And I'll be home sometime on Sunday to Van's great delight. He worries when I'm on the road. But I'm looking forward to doing some good fighting along with what looks to be like excellent classes. I promise that once I auth in polearm, to actually make one that does not look like a Qtip, hehehe. Oh well.

I have the book that Liz gave me to record things in, so when I get back, I'll write up a nice journal post.

I ordered my tent - I went to a larger size than I initially thought. 10 x 18 is the foot print and it's 9 feet tall. Side opening so I've a built-in canopy fly and saved a bit of money there. I'll have it late March. Yeah! Complete package, too. All I need to add is the labor to set it up.

    Thing? No, maybe, haven't looked...

Tagging of flick'r pictures and similar social sites is covered in the 23 Things on a Stick, I think. Anyway, this is an activity in tagging pieces of art that may interest people. So I'm forwarding the letter:

    Dear Friend,

The Metropolitan Museum of Art needs your help with a research project to improve access to our online collections. You are invited to access the Museum's collection on a special Website developed specifically for this research project, and add keywords—sometimes referred to as "tags" or user-contributed terminology—to describe works of art in the Museum's collection. To do this, you will simply view an object and type as many (or as few) tags as you feel describe the piece.

Please let us know what you see—in your own words. You may find yourself gazing upon art you haven't looked at before or viewing an object in a brand new way. The more you tag, the richer your experience will be, and ultimately, the more you will be helping the Museum continue to provide its public with the exceptional caliber of online programming it has come to expect and enjoy.

If you can help, please begin now by accessing the site here: http://steve.metmuseum.org/steve

In advance, thank you for your help. The Metropolitan Museum of Art remains ever grateful for your commitment to the Museum and your support of its new and exciting online initiatives.

    Sincerely,

    Subject Cataloguing Working Group
    The Metropolitan Museum of Art
