    Tournament of Chivalry tomorrow

I got home and fell into a v deep nap from about 7-8. But I'm heading to bed cause tomorrow is going to be a v long day. But tonight I got two thrusting tips back on swords, got my polearm retipped, and got my gauntlet gloves retied on. Plus got a length of rattan cut for Tom, so I have a training buddy.

Neck still hurts and it's been a week. Not sure what it is going to take to heal it up. If it's still bothering me, I really will go into urgent care on Sunday, like I almost did last Sunday. LOL. And who would have been there to take my tents down at that point? Luce and An were as tired as I was.

Saving my Sanity, plus more Ages

This may be disjointed as I'm running reports and blogging while they do so. And hopefully will not have any more of these fighting posts eaten up. That was maddening!

Friday at Ages: More tents to put up. People to talk to. Sofya started on her signs and Stasi arrived with her second load of food and supplies. I helped Stasi as i could, then pounded tent stakes in. We all had a nice sammichy lunch at some point, before it really got super busy with the tents. My own setup is a bit silly, though. I have this little hand-made geteld that i am going to get taller poles for, so it will be taller in the middle but with out as much floor space. Which will be fine cause it's mostly a storage unit for overflow things AND I can use the smaller poles to be the new uprights for the shadefly. I am not taking it to Lillies, though. Anyway, to make a shadefly on either the big or little geteld, I have to switch them back and forth, those uprights.

Doing Stuff, plus a recap of Ages

I'm home tonight, going to set some things done. It's 6:34 and I have had dinner and started the dishwasher. This house is a mess!

I was just not sure how it was going to be on Thursday at Ages. Only a small crew of us showed up, But we mostly worked right along side each other to get the work done of putting up tents - Lyulf had four to put up. I had two, lol. So it was a pretty constant bit of hard work, swinging a hammer. Finally got too dark. An and I ran off and got food for ourselves, came back and we all gathered around a fire. Isabelle and Lyulf went to bed early but the rest of us stayed up way into the night, singing and sharing stories and just being together. I liked it.

I just realized that is why my right shoulder and neck is still hurting. All those tents. We did the same on Friday, of course, put up tents and held canvas and moved heavy things all day. I didn't rest, really. Always someone needing a hand, of which I have two. Karel was right there too, helping out. I don't know how he does it, goes and goes and takes on heavier jobs than I can ever hope to do.

    Time to flip laundry around.

Intelligentsia Coffee & Tea, Inc. - A Brief History of Coffee

Intelligentsia Coffee & Tea, Inc. - A Brief History of Coffee.

Coffee has started wars, cured illness, raised spirits and suspicion, sealed deals, and been equally revered and condemned since it first appeared over a thousand years ago in Ethiopia. The nomadic Oromo people of East Africa were the first coffee enthusiasts, but they didn't drink coffee as we know it today; they crushed the berries and leaves, mixed them with animal fat, and rolled the result into small balls which were eaten as an invigorating snack before heading into battle.

    I got to fight...

I scooped this off my live journal page, duplicating in both places. Still need to talk about Ages, still need to do a proper fight-evaluation thingie. But this was last night.

The drive with Luce, John and Jacques was quick and properly talkative. We got up there, though, to find the bathrooms were closed. No potties meant an uncomfortable Sorcha, who would have bared her sports bra in the car but yeah. Wasn't going to try to fight with a full bladder. About to whine to Luce to go to the nearest gas station, we were saved by a very nice couple across the street, whose nephew was kitting out for the first time. Yeah! Potty and a private place to change clothes!

So I warmed up with someone I cannot remember who, and then played with Emmie for a while. She's in training mode. I fought someone else but we were all waiting for melee at this point. Sir Tom wanted to work us through some things. And we did. The adrenaline did not kick in until about the third pass of a two on one melee drill. We also did a lot of work on guarding the ford against each other. That was awesome fun, esp as the folks teaching told us what they wanted to see, then after the battle told us how we had done in good detail. Mostly the spears and longer polearms were to be blocked down or swept to one side and held there by one of a team, so the other could kill. We worked on sheilds moving from defending the spears to doing pulse charges and advances. Staying and protecting your wing man at the right time, charging the right times.

I smell that my rib is ready to eat, then a quick shower and bed. I'm gtired, I'm happy. Always good in Nordskogen. I still need to talk about Ages, but later....

You know, you get a bit down and something like this comes along and makes it all worth living.

    BacK

I'm home from Ages of War. I'll have a report here later, but right now I'm unpacking. Safe and good.

    I need to finish packing...

But oh well. i'm watching Jay Leno and thinking about finishing the packing for Ages of War.

It's midnight. I'm still packing. LOL. I should close the frickin' chat program but I am enjoying the talking.

    Night!

    Feeling kinda sick...

I was having tummy troubles anyway, and also having a throbbing headache, so I came home early and took a bit of a nap. Meds still haven't kicked in but I had supper and now am talking to Isaiah about games. So here is a funny gaming vid from Ingus.I've still got the dishes to do, some emails to get out to Kingdom, some more packing, and one more set of bags to dye.

    Dying....

So the blue dye I initally tried, using the washer, didn't do a thing. I blamed the technique, but I should have blamed the dye. Cheap stuff. I bought a good one from Hancock and it's perfect. Sweet!

Practice got rained out so I had a salad and watched Bones. Now am sewing and yes, updating the blog. Love the blog, always messing in here, lol.

9:43 well. Another bad shirt based off the measurements I took of Van...if he is 42 inches round at the widest point, and I made the body 48 inches round, he shouldn't have to be skimmed out of it like it's a skin. This man is very patient. <pulls out seam ripper....>
