Bruce's Visit to Lilies
Bruce was interested in what we do when we gather together like this, so came out to Lilies on Tuesday to visit. I knew he wasn't showing up until 11-11:30 so I toook time to eat a good breakfast, shower, clean my tent up...things I'd been skimping on. It was good. Then I walked down to troll to sit and sew until he arrived. Found a really nice tree with real grass, not that scratchy stuff I'd been sitting on down on the battlefield.
I got him trolled in and we walked the .5 miles back to camp (I measured it later in the week when doing a fresh food run). Some of my camping mates were there and we sat and talked about the event and other things people talk about when they first meet.
[saving this frequently as i've lost the post once already today...grrrr]
Then we walked down through one section of camp and into the A&S area. Calontir has a rich and healthy guild community, many having a shelter during Lilies so people could gather for classes or just for companionship while working their craft. The Pottery Guild had a kiln set up and ready to fire towards the end of the week. There were people working on firing beads and on weaving. Here's a pic of the kiln.
There was a number of other items to one side, drying. Some obviously made by a child, some by whimsical, talented people, of flowers and dragons and decorative things. Others are useful, like the mugs and bowls here.
We had a nice meal at the food court, at the fund raising booth for the new shire in the area. Smithville? I am thinking so. Good to talk to these people AND I enjoyed supporting them. Afterwards, Bruce bought both of us icey drinks while we walked down to the battlefields. Mostly it was pickup fighting going on the heavy field; I think the archers might have had one shoot still going on but the thrown weapons people had thrown all they could for the day. We stood for quite a while watching the training, discussing various weapons and styles and rankings. OK, more pics at the end.
I walked Bruce back to his car at about 3, 3:30. I realized about then that maybe I should have offered to come out with him and visit my mother...it is awful, I know, but when I drop into one of these events I do not want to leave. Didn't even think of it. I enjoyed Bruce's visit a great deal, and hope he did as well. Next time, he's got to stay longer and share a camp-fire meal, maybe try some archery or weaving or talk to some of the fighters down along that tree line. Yeah for Lilies War and the excellent people of Calontir!
That's the fort/tavern/town. Behind it is the Royal Pavillion for Calontir
We should have walked closer, I am thinking now...
This is the Yeti shade fly. Awesome people. Their camp was right across the road from ours and we spent a lot of time together this week.
He really enjoyed the visit, has been telling everyone about it. No problem not coming out to see me, I completely understand

Bruce was real talkative when he met us at the casino, so I know he had a good time. "Mom" was tired, so it worked out good for you to stay there and enjoy yourself.
