    Lillie's fighting

I got one more Lillies post, to talk about Bruce's visit, but it's not fading the way the fighting is in my head. Stay tuned!

I first went down to the battlefield on Monday; I really do not remember the scenarios on Monday. I remember sticking to it as long as the battles went on. It seems that Lillie's battles have two aspects. An initial battle that is shorter but intensive in plot, and then an equally intense rezz battle to finish the day. So that Monday was fun but also a blur. In fact, most of it is all a blur now; I should have written this up days ago, I guess. So let's see what I can do without talking about days.

Testing a shield press - His Excellency Ilya held up a shield on guard and told me to rush him. I did. He met my push with one of his own, I went backward ass-over-teakettle and rolled down the hill a bit. So there we go, lol. I need to work on those, right.

Adrenaline buildup - Monday was terrific. By the end of the fighting I was so high on the drive that I barely got the armor off and was fighting tears and sobs and grovelling into the dirt a bit. Wasn't so bad after that. Maybe my heart was just all over fighting that Monday?

Tavern brawl - I chose to use a sword rather than a ham or a candlestick. I fought a bit but I mostly died. As soon as I stood up, initially, then figured out how to work it a bit, and we were teaming up a bit more. I spent the week fighting along side the Yetis and others from Northshield. His Highness Raito had joined the War by this time and was leading us in those strategies, lol, this one and then the rest of the week.

Oh! That Monday...This was a guild war. At least six guilds represented out there, and we were initiallly allied with the Fiber Guild, then mid-day was switching to the Silk Road. I remember my first battle of guild against guild, the rezz battle on Monday. We were regrouping and then heading back in, having to communicate our guild affiliation by voice, fighting for the Silk Road, allied with Brewers Guild, taking ground and protecting our possession of the flag. That was fun. Lots of fighting time there.

Singing in the Shield Wall Song - This had us broken into...volleys? Waves? Anyway, Men at Arms, Feyrdmen, Huescarls, and Chivalry. Bards were singing The Shieldwall song and as they reached mention of each rank, that group got to engage. The bards sang it at least twice through and then survivors were counted to determine winning side. I made it first battle until the Feyrdman came in, then the second until the Heuscarls came in.

Irish versus the Vikings Battle - I liked being the irish, liked protecting my ringfort against those nasty Vikings. This was also the battle I was most frustrated by. The Irish side almost insisted on fighting right on the Vikings' rezz point, even though the marshals kept reminding us and also pulling us back. So we'd pull back and yeah, the line crept up cause some of us saw target and went after it. It was on this scenario that I saw Karel making some excellent moves out there; he'd been talking and taking advise from Ilya, HH Raito and others. He was putting it right into play out there. Karel did a sweep against a row of spears that was righteous. Took a couple with him and opened it up for us Vikings to kill, kill, kill (we'd rotated sides for the second battle). The rezz for Vikings was by dice roll - I resurrected three times and then went to Valhalla, thank Odin cause I was tired by then. Luce kept resurrecting and resurrecting - hahaha.

Friday, I was done cause the chiggers had chewed the backs of my knees into lace - forgot to goop up on Thursday. However, one of the Hillian's children asked me to be her fighter for the children's tourney, and I was proud to do so. And I think I wrote about this one already but here is a link to some pics, towards the bottom of the screen. http://www.heraldshill.org/photoframe9.html Good ones of Yetis and His Excellency in one of the fort battles, too. Thanks to the good folks of Heraldshill for these!

I need to close this down...I fought as much as I could. I was OK with that. Mostly it's about having fun and doing the best I can and trying to better my own performance. I think I did that with some success. There were lots of things going on I didn't take part in. For example, along the tree line, all afternoon, various people were gathering for pick ups. I wondered about that. No pickups before the battles, well, sure, people were just waking up for the 10 am war battlles. Then training work, trying new things, that happened down there. I used the heat and humidity as an excuse, but also, well, I just got shy about pushing myself forward. Yeah, me, lol.

Fighting, I had a very good time and am looking forward to next year.
