Ginny and Bomber are on their way home
Happy thoughts for them, everyone! Thanks!
Happy thoughts for them, everyone! Thanks!
I slept until 6 this morning. Totally awesome! Laid there for another half hour before getting up for coffee and a book. Van and I went swimming; felt good to do the laps and stretching.
It was fun taking Gin to the store to buy food, lots of food. Hanging out with this adult daughter of mine just reminds me I need to communicate with her, to reach out as much as I can. She's got so much going on, and we are both forgetting the stories of our lives to share with each other.
So we got some pictures with each other and I got one of her roommate, Daniel. This is cool - he is a poet. He's written a very nice one about Ginny when she dances, and this is a good part:
She dances
like the angel
we know is sneaky...
her skirts swirl
with the gentle undertones
of a live lived rarely indecent....
I have a few minutes here to just hang out while Ginny is checking on her dog, Bomber Jane. So what else do I do but get on this computer and type?? LOL.
So, last night's trip sorta is a blur already. I woke up at 5 and just dozed on and off until 7. Yuck. We got around then and drove into Rolla to Gin's place.
It's not bad. Needs a good cleaning but then it just makes my own place look better, and the kitchen was just fine. Gin takes care of that, I guess. We got to meet ...oh geeze, forgot her name but she is the sweetest chocolate brown lab I ever met. A rescue dog from a puppy mill. Totally sweet, worries about being safe, plays well with Bomber. Oh, Hunter.
Gin's here now. Curled up here next to me. What sorta mean thing shall I write? hahahaha
Mom and Bruce came up for lunch - that was a good time. We sat and talked for a bit here at the motel, then went to Gordo's to find it was closed, then travelled back to Applebee's. Then pie at 'slice of pie' which has excellent, homemade pie. Yummy!
OK, I'll finish this later. Smiles!
We are in Columnbia...I think...hehe. We started looking for a motel room at midnight. Finally found one, first one we tried in Columbia, at 2 am. Lovely!
Mom, you can call anytime. Gin said not to call her until we get into town...wonder why? Partying the last day of school?
Mike, we didn't stay in any one place long enough for me to blog my trip. Mostly I cowered under my headache though. Poor Van.
More in a bit!
We went to a funeral today, actually a memorial service. It was impersonal. Hopefully a comfort for the family and just what they wanted. I think it was directly out of their denomination's Book of Ceremonies so was also familiar and so again comforting for affirming the departed's place in the family of things.
Van and I talked about what we want, someday. He wants a revel. Pass out beers as people arrive, have his buddy Chuck deliver a homily and tribute and then, as the beer keeps disappearing, invite everyone/anyone to step up and talk. Food would include cold shrimp and hot steaks and all the yummy foods I can think of. Peanuts to eat and to toss at each other. It would be cool to have a shoot of some sort, team event maybe. Before the beer, btw. He's telling me 3-weapon now - rapier, heavy and pistol. That would be fun, I think. I also think he's just being kind of snotty suggesting the heavy tourney. Me, as grieving widow;how can I fight it?? Well, sufficient unto the day and all. And really, I think my fighting days will be past by the time he leaves this green earth. Unless there's a beer truck involved.
Mine? Similar, but it would be cool for people to not step up and give a tribute, but a promise. How will you honor my memory? What small or large act can you do, in my memory, to make this world a better place? It may be the last good thing I can inspire in people, and will give me great comfort to know I've written that up in my 'letter to my heirs' that will be part of my will. Just asking them to do that for me. Anyway, write it all down on pieces of paper that are burnt and sent to the heavens (or Santa Claus, remember that?).
Before the service was a lot of raking, and then this afternoon was shopping for stuff including some nice steaks. They are cooking now, along with potatoes. Wine is already uncorked. I'm going to go watch the robins on the desk for a bit...
I'm going to get up any minute and hit the yard, start the clean up that needs to be done. Van and I. With rain predicted this evening, and a terrible need to work out, I need to rake while the sun shines, lol. We've a memorial service at 2, so will have to stop by 11:30.
Last night was a party at Rachel's house. She and Julie were teasing me that I'd provide for them their 15 minutes of fame today, that they would be *famous* for appearing in my blog. So there you go, lol, here's your names in print again. Never forget this though!

This is a funny caption to this pic http://bestever.mst.edu/2008/03/st_pat_is_kind_of_a_big_deal.html
I talked to Gin this evening. The manure spreader did not break down during their trip into town. She's called Peter, as in the last part of the trumpeter title she bears. She is having a lot of fun, too. Tonight was the interviewing of the Queen of Love and Beauty contestants, then a party, then a bar. Sounds like a good time...I am not stalking her on flick'r. Or any Mo S&T blog...
New update to the fighting journal. The ladies and I are working on our household again, getting ready for camping season. I am soooooo excited about my new tent coming in. Huge!! well, bigger. Going from a 6 x 12 to a 10 x 18 and I'm really excited to see what the extra 2 feet of height does to the inner space. But now..to bed. Night!
http://www.flickr.com/photos/missourisandt/2326839284/ This is part of the Follies. I'm not sure but yeah, I think so. Here is the blog again : http://bestever.mst.edu/
Am I a stalker?? I don't think so, just really hoping she is having a good time.
