Greetings! This is the various photos I've taken of Jason and Elizabeth the last couple of weeks. There are the pictures of the latest dress-shopping, and some family photos from the send off at the armory on Saturday, January 19th. Some photos from the engagement party, too!

Nazi Brothels

Doing  my part to keep history a learning tool: http://liz-marcs.livejournal.com/328621.html . I've not done the follow up reading to verify this but it doesn't strike me as an internet legend. Just a story, a teaching story if you will.

Fighting at Sir Tom's place

Ginny did decide to go on a float trip with her friends yesterday. So I plotted out some wireless points between here and Cedar, MN and threw all my gear into Luce’s truck and Luce, Little John and I took off. Got there pretty close to 11 am. Tom’s property is a nice chunk of land, including an area that will be an excellent woods battle site. There were some dead trees back there and we warmed up by hauling fallen wood out of there. Tom gave Sir Tarrach his chainsaw to run, Brrrr-brrr. We hauled logs and branches up towards the house so they’d be ready to burn.

So, geared up, forgot my kneepads and borrowed knee pads. No idea what happened to to them and that bothers me. Are they floating in the laundry? Littering the park? Warm ups were good but I’m having trouble with adrenaline build-up, finally feel the breath loosening up and the want to tackle yet another fight coming in. It was hot out there, with the metal helmet on and the layers of protective gear.

Yeah for Peg, who held onto my phone while I was fighting! Never did get a call from work but a couple from shire people.

I fought Zadok, Peter, Beth, Tarrach and someone else. Five warmups. Some of them being a couple of rounds and then a break to cool down. One ending short because I had the tremblies for some reason. I just pushed through though - this was no time to be wussing out and it did go away.

Melee work. Luce and I were teamed up; I need to learn better how to keep her in mind, how to work with her. I suggested to John we do some team-building exercises back home here. We would run a couple of melee battles, then pop tops and find shade. There would be training in the shade and one time, freezy-pops. I remember one battle where I was the thin point in the shield wall and getting shield rushed and flying backwards from the impact, landing on my butt and then my helm whacking the ground. Got up and killed someone after that. I remember another where the charge had my group of four going to the right BUT I was flank-man and there coming up to flank my own group was this group of three - I addressed them rather than staying with my own group and I’m not sure if that was right to do or not. That group of three, two after Luce died, stayed alive for a while through the battle. I am hoping I kept the three busy for a bit, maybe 10-15 seconds before they got me to drop the shield enough for a polearm blow to the top. I’d made eye contact and was not going to turn my back on them at that point.

So I got to a point I couldn’t do anymore. I was not the first out of armor, though! I was in the shade, watching the last couple melees and Tristan started organizing a spear class. I paired up with Roisin and using polearms - same idea, long poles just not as long. I had a sticky end to mine, though, and wore a dime-sized blister up and then off as the skin just peeled back. Ick. Ouch. Luce found me a bandaid.

Then meat and chips and watermelon and talking. While Roisin and Beth continued to fight. They kept going for about another hour, maybe.

We must have left about 7...I got home at 9:30. This morning I’m a bit sore and my neck is stiff from that fly-backwards bit. I’ve a page of notes I wrote down on the way home.

Today, Gin and I are shopping and I have some work to do for WW plus laundry. Eventually. Soon. Yesterday was a lot of fun, and I hope we do it again.

Let there be light

The puppy is terrified of the noise so I'm sitting in the house, watching the fireworks from the big windows, letting her sit on my feet. I'm thinking it's kinda neat but yeah, she's not sure why we crazy people are letting the noises happen. Poor thing.

We have the best spot. The neighbors throw 100's of dollars into fireworks each year, and so we have them right overhead, raining ash on our heads and trees and grounds around us. The rich people on the new subdivision on the hill has at least two maybe three houses of rockets going off. The house up the street is showing off. Then the city has to get into the mix too. It's just awesome, really.

Day's tasks

It's almost 11. Wow. Nice quiet morning. Defurred a terrified cat, cleaned up a table's paperpile and threw most away, was just lazy. Leaving now for the grocery store for stuff I need for cake and supper.

Ginny's home!!

Gin came home, her and her big dog, for the weekend. I'm v happy to see her. We are making plans right now, and talking about her dog and life and what has been going on.

It was a really good day. I had some good projects but also had the fun of doing some surprise report pulling for a couple of our Online Libraries.  I like the 'got to think about it' puzzles. I'm also researching for a couple of new projects that are giving me new opportunities.

I was leaving work and Jacques called me and asked me to stop by the fabric store for a minute to advise him about fabric, and I'm like 'oh, I'm not good at that" but stopped by anyway and was able to say "you don't want that, it's polyester." on one bolt and also show him that there is canvas and then there is trigger and similar fabrics. On the way home, I called Aig back and she was in her yard, talking to her Towton so I just stopped by for a bit. Good to get a hug. And yes, I was there long enough to get a hug from Mike, too.

So now we are watching "family guy" and not sure why...l

Washing windows and thinking about honor...

Kingdom first, shire second, household third, Courtesy always. It's for me a balancing act between life in and out of Society and of various chosen responsibilities. I've been charting it out. I have this total spiderweb. Awesome and scary all at once. I want to do this as I best I can with honor, not just for personal glory, cause those are not just silly words to me recited before the marshals let me fight.

How do I acchieve balance? By continuing to work at it, and by being proactive. I have chosen to revisit the Seven Habits, mostly as Stephen Covey has a new, free online community with really nice goal planning and charting success tools. Most of my goals are private ones but I am puttin on select public ones cause I want to. http://www.stephencovey.com/goal/index.php

So I'm thinking and am washing windows. Cleaning up the mental windows while scrubbing down the physical.

Bruce's Visit to Lilies

Bruce was interested in what we do when we gather together like this, so came out to Lilies on Tuesday to visit. I knew he wasn't showing up until 11-11:30 so I toook time to eat a good bKarel and Isabelle's tentsreakfast, shower, clean my tent up...things I'd been skimping on. It was good. Then I walked down to troll to sit and sew until he arrived. Found a really nice tree with real grass, not that scratchy stuff I'd been sitting on down on the battlefield.

I got him trolled in and we walked the .5 miles back to camp (I measured it later in the week when doing a fresh food run). Some of my camping mates were there and we sat and talked about the event and other things people talk about when they first meet.

[saving this frequently as i've lost the post once aMy and Luce's tentslready today...grrrr]

Lillie's fighting

I got one more Lillies post, to talk about Bruce's visit, but it's not fading the way the fighting is in my head. Stay tuned!

I first went down to the battlefield on Monday; I really do not remember the scenarios on Monday. I remember sticking to it as long as the battles went on. It seems that Lillie's battles have two aspects. An initial battle that is shorter but intensive in plot, and then an equally intense rezz battle to finish the day. So that Monday was fun but also a blur. In fact, most of it is all a blur now; I should have written this up days ago, I guess. So let's see what I can do without talking about days.
